Bidar: Despite the Government enacting the Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Act, 2020, the Town Police conducted a raid in the wee hours of Sunday February 5 following a tip-off that cattle were being slaughtered at a slaughter house in Shivpura Layout of the Town.
During the Police raid, many people were engaged in slaughtering cattle. People present at the spot fled as soon as the attack took place. It is learnt that people first called the 112 helpline and informed them. Later, PSI Manjanagouda Patil and other staff visited the spot and inspected it.
Veterinary Officer Dr. Govind, Dr. Shantakumar Siddeshwara and Revenue Department staff visited the spot and completed various legal processes.
A total of 16 cattle, including cows, bullocks and buffaloes, have been rescued and they will be sent to Mylara Gaushala in Bhalki Taluk.
