Bidar: MLA Sharanu Salagara found standing on the lap of a statue during the Ram Navami procession in the City on Thursday March 30 has sparked widespread debate and criticism.

The picture was shared by many on social media and asked if this was BJP’s ‘Ram bhakti’.

As the procession started from Kali Gali in the City, the MLAs stood on the lap of statue of Lord Shri Ram while garlanding. After garlanding, he stood there and joined hands with the devotees. Therefore, the public has expressed anger.

Former MLA Mallikarjun Khuba and Congress ticket aspirant Dhanaraja Talampally also took to Facebook to condemn the incident. The MLAs have not commented on the issue. But the members programme committee tried to climb up to garland it. However, his supporters maintained that when he could not, the MLA rose with the permission of the Committee. Some have given clarifications on their Facebook pages.
