Chikkamagaluru: MLA Kumaraswamy broke down in tears over the incident in Mudigere Taluk, a Reserved Assembly Constituency, after party workers were angry with him.
The BJP’s Vijay Sankalpa Yatra had arrived in Mudigere Taluk. Former Chief Minister B. S. Yediyurappa and Sadananda Gowda were also present.
At this time, thousands of party workers expressed their anger that Kumaraswamy should not get a ticket. B. S. Yediyurappa did not hold a roadshow on the same path as he had come. For about half an hour, there was high drama in the middle of the road.
Addressing a press conference after the event, Kumaraswamy recalled the incident. He said, “They have done all this because I am a Dalit. Would they have done this if another general category MLA had been a member of the council?,” he asked.
“Some people have done this on purpose. These kind of people were there from 20 years. However Former Chief Minister B. S. Yediyurappa took me a few yards away and consoled me. He assured me that I will get the ticket and will definitely win,” he said.
“In 2013, I lost by a margin of 1,000 votes because I was a bit careless. Now they have started the same thing again. He alleged that all this was a deliberate conspiracy hatched by some people.
I don’t have wife and children. I have worked and fought for the party. I apologise to BSY and Sadananda Gowda for the incident,” he said.
“The survey of all the channels has said that I will win in Mudigere. Those who don’t tolerate my victory are doing this,” he said.
