Chikkamagaluru: Refugees attempt suicide by pouring petrol in Taluk Office | Azad Times

Chikkamagaluru: In a shocking incident, a group of refugees, who have lost their shelter due to floods, tried to drink poison at the Taluk Office. The villagers of Malemane – Madhugundi in Mudigere Taluk attempted suicide by pouring petrol on them.

In 2019, 11 families had lost their homes, property, fields, and orchards due to floods. The six houses in the Malemane were completely levelled. They had lost everything.

People had been waiting for relief for four years. Though an alternative site was shown, the Taluk administration had given a record to someone else for the site. Enraged, people tried to gherao the Taluk office and tried to consume petrol and poison.
