Dharawad: Rs 25 Lakh worth sarees seized | Azad Times

Dharawad: The Police have seized 12,000 sarees worth Rs. 25 Lakh that were being transported without documents.

It is reported that both the bikers were killed on the spot when the lorry collided head-on with a bike near Itigatti on Hubballi-Dharawad bypass. At that time, the lorry driver left the lorry behind and fled.

When the Police took the lorry into custody and checked it, it came to light that it was carrying undocumented sarees in it. It is learnt that these sarees were being transported from Ramadurga to Bengaluru. It is speculated that the sarees were being taken to distribute them among the voters as there is an Assembly election.

The Police has seized the sarees along with the lorry on the basis that the bills were issued in the names of 20 women and their names were fake.
