Dharwad: The 157th anniversary of a Government school means that it has given so many students to the society that it has to be remembered in history. The adoption of the National Education Policy will lead to holistic growth of students. There was a need to teach skills in the school, said Union Parliamentary Affairs, Coal and Mines Minister Pralhad Joshi.
He was speaking after inaugurating the Centenary Golden Jubilee Celebrations of the school at Uppinabettageri Government Model Boys’ Primary School premises on Sunday March 19. “The National Education Policy has incorporated elements requiring comprehensive skill development for students. India is the country with the largest number of young people in the world. There are 65 per cent young people. Even the elderly in our country work,” he observed.
“Skills need to be developed in students for the development of the country. That’s why NEP has been introduced,” he added.
