Gundlupet: In the wake of the Nipah virus outbreak in Kerala, which tragically claimed two lives, the health department in Gundlupet has escalated its scrutiny measures at the Moolahole check post within the taluk. As an additional precautionary step, all vehicles entering the state from the Kerala border are now undergoing sanitization procedures.
At the Moolahole check post, vehicles transporting non-vegetarian goods, including pigs, are under surveillance, and all freight vehicles are undergoing sanitization measures as a preventive measure to curb the potential spread of the Nipah virus into the state. Simultaneously, the health department is maintaining vigilant oversight over 158 villages along the Kerala border within Gundlupet taluk. They are making preparations to conduct household health checks for residents in these areas. Additionally, officials from the taluk health department have made the decision to establish a dedicated three-bed special ward at a government hospital in Gundlupet town.
Dr. Visvesvaraya, the District Health Officer, has stated that following the unfortunate demise of two individuals in Kerala due to the Nipah virus, stringent measures have been implemented at the Moolahole check post within Gundlupet taluk. Asha workers and community health officers in nearby villages have received instructions to commence house-to-house visits starting tomorrow. They will be responsible for conducting swab tests on individuals displaying symptoms of the disease.
