Hassan: A clash broke out between a man wheeling and another which ended in the murder of a man who did the wheeling, leading to panic among the people.
The number of people wheeling in and around Hassan City has increased day by day causing inconvenience to the public. However, it is alleged that the Police Department has failed to control it.
In Hassan City around 8.00 pm on Saturday March 18, Sumanth (20), a resident of 80 Feet Road, an auto-rickshaw driver, had come out of his house with his bike and was wheeling near Gavenahalli in the City when some youth from Gavenahalli Village stopped him and told him not to do the wheeling. There was a heated exchange of words between the youth and the man. At this point, the locals intervened and both the sides were pacified and sent away.
Sumanth, who was wheeling, went back and soon returned with two men with him, who brought a long stick and a knife in his hand and tried to attack those who created a ruckus against him with a knife. Prajwal and other youth from Gavenahalli Village, who snatched both the knife and a long stick from them, stabbed the auto driver Sumanth in the chest and stomach with a knife. Sumanth, who was seriously injured, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
Based on a complaint lodged by Sumanth’s father Ningaraju, a case has been registered at Hassan City Layout Police Station and further investigations are on.
