Hassan: The residents of Vivekanagara are forced to make a living amidst the UGD water flowing in front of their houses everyday and are cursing the people’s representatives and officials for not listening to the problem.

Sathyamangala Gram Panchayat is the second largest Gram Panchayat in the entire State but it is gaining notoriety for the hypocrisy of the people’s representatives and officials here. As the process of making Hassan City a Municipal Corporation has come to a halt, the Gram Panchayat officials have fallen asleep by putting a burden on the Municipal Corporation, the latest example of this is that for the last 4 to 5 months, UGD water has been flowing in the middle of the Road in Vivekanagara, Hassan.

To no avail, the Gram Panchayat is pointing fingers at the Municipal Corporation, while the Municipal Corporation says that we have nothing to do with it.

Due to the discreet silence of the so-called people’s representatives, the problems of the residents remain unsolved and they are living in fear of the spread of many infectious diseases.

The local residents have been sending the applications for the last 4 to 5 months to Sathyamangala Gram Pnchayat but the authorities have not taken any action in this regard. This is causing a lot of trouble, the officers are putting it on top of each other. If this continues, how can we live with this bad smell here? Those concerned have demanded that suitable compensation be provided.

It remains to be seen whether the Municipal Corporation and Gram Panchayat officials, who are making Hassan a clean and garbage-free City, will wake up and come up with a sensible solution to the problems of the residents of Vivekanagara.
