Haveri: As many as 1.84 lakh bags of chillies were procured in the local agricultural produce market on Thursday March 30, a record high in the current financial year.
For the last three weeks, more than one and a half lakh bags have been required every week and the number of bags has increased by 10,000 to 15,000.
The market, which is credited with a turnover of Rs. 2 Crore for two consecutive years, has earned Rs. 2,000 Crore this year due to record prices of chilli nuts year after year. There are chances of crossing the transaction.
In the last three weeks, there has been a steady increase in demand in the market.
