Kalaghatgi: BJP leader Shashidhar Nimbannavar has announced their intention to stage a protest on September 20, organizing a bandh against the government. The protest aims to address the omission of Kalaghatgi from the list of drought-affected areas, despite farmers in the taluk facing the repercussions of drought conditions.

Addressing the gathering at the BJP office in town, He pointed out that insufficient rainfall has resulted in the destruction of crops such as paddy, sugarcane, soybean, maize, and more, which were cultivated by the constituency’s farmers.
Disregarding this matter, the government, as well as the agriculture and revenue departments, have failed to conduct a thorough survey and submit it to the authorities, he stated, emphasizing that the government has shown a neglectful attitude towards the taluk.
Santosh Lad, who serves as the MLA for Kalaghatgi and holds the position of district in-charge minister, urged the government to safeguard the welfare of the farmers in the area.
