Karwar: A female leopard was found dead on the roadside on Wednesday February 8 on the way from Anagoda to Savagadde in the Taluk.
Deputy Conservator of Forests S. G. Hegde, ACF Ananda, RFO L. A. Mutt visited and inspected the spot. Post-mortem was conducted by the Veterinary Officer.
A case has been registered under the Wildlife Protection Act and an investigation has been launched.
It is to be noted that in the past too, a similar case of leopard has been registered in the area. Such an unnatural death is taking place in the area frequently and this has led to many suspicions.
In recent days, there have been rumours that the leopard menace in the area has crossed the limits.
