Karwar: ‘Yakshagana is unique and great art form’ | Azad Times

Karwar: Energy, Kannada and Culture Minister V. Sunil Kumar has said that Yakshagana is a unique and great art form of the State which uses only pure Kannada.

He was speaking after inaugurating the 13th Keremane Shambhu Hegde National Natyotsava at Gunavanthe in Honnavara Taluk on Friday February 3. “Keremane has given a new milestone to the field by worshipping Yakshagana through 4 generations. It is commendable that a family has continued Yakshagana for the fourth generation. Culture, language and art are essential for a civilised society,” he said.

“The Department is ready to encourage the programme in the coming days. This is for the first time that the government has organised a two-day state-level Yakshagana conference,” he noted.
