Bidar: Environment and Forest Minister Eshwara B. Khandre has instructed forest department officials to prepare and present a comprehensive report evaluating the potential establishment of a zoo in Bidar district.
In a recent meeting of the zoo authority, I discussed the successful operation of Mysuru Zoo, which is currently running profitably. We have also established zoos in Hospet, Gadag, and Belagavi. I proposed the idea of potentially setting up a zoo in the forested area of Devadeva Vana near Bidar, as well as in the forest area near Honnikeri. I have directed the relevant authorities to thoroughly examine this possibility and submit a detailed report. As the forest minister, I have the authority to provide the necessary funding. The final decision will be made after reviewing the submitted report,” he stated.
Our goal is to plant five crore saplings statewide, with an additional target of 15 lakh saplings in Bidar district for the current year. As of now, the state has successfully planted four crore saplings, and Bidar district has achieved its target of 15 lakh saplings. Looking ahead, our aim is to plant 20 lakh saplings in the district for the coming year,” he announced.
