chinni resigns

Koppal: Retired Chief Engineer Prabhakar Chini has resigned from the primary membership of the Congress in the wake of the confirmation of the Congress ticket for Kushtagi Assembly Constituency for sitting MLA Amaregowda Patil Bayyapura. He has submitted the resignation to Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committe State President D. K. Shivakumar.

He has served in various key positions in the Government and has served in KBJNL. He had retired as a general engineer. Prabhakar Chini, who joined the Congress after 34 years of Government service, had applied for the post of candidate from Kushtagi Assembly Constituency on November 10 last year.

Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said he would give three tickets to the Uppara Samaja in the State. On this assurance, he applied for the Kushtagi Assembly constituency and was expecting a Congress Party ticket. There is no instance in the history of Kushtagi Assembly Constituency where they have won consecutively. Hence, the sitting MLAs had appealed to the party high command to give preference to a new face as it was doubtful that they would be re-elected.
