Mandya: MLC Dinesh Gooli gowda and Mandya MLA Dinesh Ganiga said that Mysore sugar factory needs urgent financial assistance from the government to crush sugarcane in 2023-24. In last year’s budget, the state government had announced Rs 50 crore for revival of Mysugar factory. However, it has released only Rs 32 crore so far. In this background, the balance money has to be released. Out of which, this time, the finance department should be instructed to release Rs. 10 crores urgently.

Mysore Sugar Factory (My Sugar) in Mandya district is under huge losses and had stopped sugarcane crushing for some years. It has restarted sugarcane crushing only last year. Also, last year the government had announced ₹50 crore in the budget for the revival of the factory. However, only ₹32 crore has been released so far. They said that due to this, the farmers are facing severe inconvenience.

Farmers have grown sugarcane in an area of 10,002 hectares this season under the factory and a contract has been entered into to supply about 5,00,100 metric tonnes of sugarcane. 5,745 farmers have already registered to supply sugarcane to the factory. He said that for the benefit of the farmers and for the future of the factory, sugarcane crushing should be started on time.

The preparation for sugarcane harvesting is supposed to start from June. However, 18.54 crore rupees are needed in the factory for emergency maintenance work, payment of harvesters, salary of staff. They have requested to release 10 crore rupees immediately.

They said rs 5 crore for completion of pre-season maintenance work, ₹ 1.50 crore for payment of wages to factory workers for April, May and June, local and outside sugarcane harvesting groups, ₹ 5.80 crore for advance payment, ₹ 98 lakh for construction of Konanahalli water line to factory, miscellaneous within the unit ₹ 98 lakh is required for civil works, ₹ 98 lakh for ERP project, ₹ 30 lakh for installation of water and stake online monitoring system, ₹ 1 crore for installation of juice supplier and gear box, ₹ 2 crore for GI sheet and material for harvesting workers.

MLC Dinesh Gooligowda and MLA Ravi Ganiga requested that action should be taken to release the money immediately in the interest of the farmers.
