Mangaluru: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee General Secretary Mamta Gatti said that Rani Abbakka festival was held in Ullal with funds of Rs. 50 lakh every year. However, this time, the Minister for Kannada and Culture, though hailing from the coastal areas reserved only Rs 10 lakh for the utsav, she added.

Speaking at a press conference she said that it was an insult to the women of the State. “Rani Abbakka was a great leader who fought for the country. The festival was celebrated in the name of Abbakka for many years. She said a clarification should be given for the cut in funds.

“Union Minister of State Shobha Karandlaje has announced that the Abbakka theme park will be constructed. But when Siddaramaiah was the Chief Minister, Rs. 8 Crore was allotted for Abbakka Bhavan. However, why has the building not been constructed in five years?,” she asked.
