Mangaluru: There are demands that the old (steel) bridge over the Netravathi River should be renovated and preserved as a monument rather than a bridge.

According to experts, the bridge, which was constructed in 1914, was once a link between the Mangaluru – Bengaluru National Highway and is still in good condition. There is a demand to think about whether it is possible to rebuild such a bridge and save the old style bridge and hand it over to the next generation.

A new bridge has been constructed on the highway and now another bridge is also being constructed, but the service of the steel bridge will still continue. This is inevitable for the people of this region like Gudinabali, Panemangaluru Town and, Nandavara Temple as it has connectivity to each place.
