Mysuru: Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha and Hasiru Sena staged a protest in front of the Cauvery Irrigation Corporation Office in Nanjanagudu Town demanding release of water to canals. As part of the 87th birth anniversary celebrations of Farmer Leader Professor M. D. Nanjundaswamy they paid homage to him and staged a protest against the officials of the Irrigation Department.

Sathish Rao, Taluk President of Raitha Sangha said that he had brought to the notice of the officials several times that water should be released to the canals to grow paddy in the coming summer. But
water is not being released to the farmers of our State. The authorities are going to release water to neighbouring State Tamil Nadu which is condemnable. He demanded that the farmers’ issues should be resolved immediately.

The event was attended by office-bearers of the Farmers’ Association and The Green Army.
