Chandigarh: Even after Congress losing the assembly election in Punjab, the bickering within the party did not die down as the party is still grappling with infighting.

This became evident during the protest meeting held by the party. During the meeting, one of the party leaders asked Former Minister, Navjot Singh Sidhu to reveal the names of those in the party who are involved in anti-party activities.

Sidhu was addressing the Congress leaders and workers during the protest against the BJP-led central government over the continued rise in petrol, diesel, and cooking gas prices outside the Punjab Congress Bhawan in Chandigarh.

Sidhu spoke about promoting people with a clean image for the party’s revival in the wake of its decimation in the recent Punjab assembly elections. He said he would not like to reveal the names in public.

Stating that he would be the first one to take a stand if any “false” FIR was lodged against any Congress worker, he however said that if money is recovered from anybody’s house, he will not stand with him.

At this juncture, Punjab Congress youth chief Brinder Singh Dhillon interrupted Sidhu.

He said that whatever Sidhu is doing is wrong and wondered why he is not revealing the names.

“If something is wrong then call it out, and if something is right then say that too,” he said, insisting  Sidhu to name those who he thinks indulged in corruption.

Dhillon then told Mr Sidhu if he was not going to take names then he was indulging in mere “drama”, that incident forced Sidhu to discontinue his address.

Later, Dhillon through a tweet clarified that his outburst was not against any individual.

A section of Punjab Congress leaders have been holding meetings recently and batting for a key role for Sidhu ahead of the likely announcement of the new PPCC chief.
