Kalaburagi: In connection with the PSI recruitment case, Dr. Shankrappa Basappa Hanamagonda (32), a physical education teacher at B. R. Ambedkar Residential School, has been arrested by CID officials. He is the close associate of main accused R. D. Patil.

Apart from looking for candidates, he was also involved in financial transactions. As soon as the question paper was available, he used Bluetooth to give the answers to the candidates.

CID Deputy SP Shankargowda Patil, CID Detective Sub-Inspector Anand, Staff Kumaravyasa and Chittapur Police conducted a joint operation and nabbed the accused for allegedly providing answers through Bluetooth to a candidate who wrote the exam at a centre in Tumakuru and another who wrote the exam in Sindagi Taluk of Vijayapura District, sources said.

Shankrappa, a native of Karunalli in Jewargi Taluk, was appointed as a physical education teacher in 2017. Shankrappa had been absent from school for several months as he was tipped off that the CID officials were looking for him. However, the CID officials, who received information about his whereabouts in Karadala Village, conducted a raid and arrested him. He has been now remanded to judicial custody.
