Mangaluru: The accused, who had stolen gold and cash from the bag of a woman travelling in a KSRTC bus, returned to the same bus after a gap of four months, when conductor found the identity of the thieves and handed them over to the police through Corporation Officials at Kempegowda Bus Stand in the City on Saturday November 12.

On July 10, the Mangaluru 2nd Depot bus was on its way to Mangaluru from Bengaluru when the bus stopped at Uppinangady and two peoplw got down. The bus waited for them for about a few minutes but could not find them. The bus was later moved further without them as per the instructions of the division.

Complaints were lodged with the Police in Puttur and Bengaluru about the theft of cash and jewellery. On Saturday at 9.45 pm, passengers boarded the platform at Kempegowda Bus Stand in Bengaluru to go to Mangaluru. Conductor Ashok Jadhav was checking the trip sheet the two men came already had arrived into the bus and were seated.

The conductor, who became suspicious, recalled the theft that had taken place when they had come earlier. He immediately informed the Division. He also informed the Police Department as per the instructions of the Division. The two passengers then were taken to Upparpete Police Station and when questioned, they confessed to the crime.

KSRTC Managing Director V. Anbu Kumar praised the bus conductor Ashok Jadhav for his presence of mind.
