Tumakuru: The Backward Classes Welfare Department of Tumakuru district has invited applications from eligible candidates for training in the legal profession for law graduates belonging to backward classes.
Candidates belonging to category-1, 2A, 3A, 2B who wish to apply can submit the application form to the said office by July 10, 2020 at the Office of the Backward Classes Welfare Department, Tumakuru District. Those applying must have passed a law degree. Only those candidates who have passed the law degree examination within a period of 2 years from the last date fixed for receiving the application are eligible to apply for the training and should have registered their name with the Bar Council.

Candidates are required to submit caste and income certificates in the forms prescribed by the government. Category-I candidates have an annual income of Rs 3.50 lakh. And Rs 2.50 lakh for OBC candidates, must be within limits.

The training will be for 4 years and the candidates selected for training will be given a training allowance of Rs 4000 per month. The candidates should be 40 years of age for category-I candidates and 38 years for classes A, 2A and 3B.

If the selected candidate is found to have been selected on the basis of a false caste income certificate, he will be punished and 10 per cent fine will be collected in the form of land revenue arrears along with the total amount given as stipend. The selected candidates will be assigned to undergo training under government counsels/public prosecutors or lawyers who have practiced law for at least 15 years. If they leave training in the middle of the training period, their scholarships should be reimbursed to the government. In case of default, the money will be recovered as arrears of revenue.
