Udupi: Agriculture pump sets to get electricity once in week | Azad Times

Udupi: The Udupi Municipal Corporation has announced that the agricultural pump sets located on the banks of Sita River, which supplies drinking water to the surrounding areas of Hebri Taluk and Baje Dam on Swarna River, which supplies drinking water to the surrounding areas of Hebri Taluk, will be provided electricity only once a week instead of seven days a week with effect from Thursday March 23.

The move has been taken in view of the possibility of drinking water problems in the coming days due to the daily use of water from the pumpsets for agriculture and horticultural crops adjacent to the Baje Dam on the Swarna River and Sitanadi, which supplies drinking water to Hebri Taluk, he said.

In order to conserve the river water, which is the source of drinking water the measure has been taken, he added.
