Udupi: Leaders of various Billava organisations in Udupi District staged a protest by displaying black flags in front of the main gate of the Karnataka State Yakshagana Sammelana against Rohit Chakratheertha alleging that Shri Narayana Guru was disrespected in the textbooks.

Protesters were shouting slogans through a protest march. The Police stopped the protesters who had come near the main gate of the Yakshagana Sammelana at the MGM ground in Kunjibettu here.

An argument broke out between the Police and the protesters. The protesters demanded that they be allowed to enter the premises of the conference. But the Police did not allow them. When protesters tried to enter the premises of the Yakshagana conference the Police stopped them. The protesters insisted that the organisers be called to the spot. The Police later pacified the protesters.

The protesters raised slogans of ‘Go Back’ as they expressed their anger against Rohit Chakrateertha. Tight security arrangements were made at the spot on the occasion.
