Udupi: A sum of Rs. 20 Crore has been sanctioned for ring road in Kundapur of the District. Another Rs. 16 Crore will be required to make this road perfect.

MLA Halady Srinivas Shetty has sanctioned Rs. 20 Crore for the construction of a ring road in the City. The construction work has been started for 915 metre and 1,110 metre roads at the rate of Rs. 9.98 Crore. The work will be carried out at total cost of Rs 19.96 crore.

On the left side of the road there will be a drain of 0.9 meter, a retaining wall on the other side with a length of 3 metre. If space is available then the wide pavement will be interlocked.

The width of the road will be 7.5 metre. The work has to be completed within a period of 18 months.

According to sources in the Department, contracts have been awarded to the two. An agreement was also signed with a contractor on January 24 to start the work. The work is expected to start by the first week of March. No objection has been disposed regarding Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) file at the District level and is pending clearance at the Bengaluru level. Now, out of the sanctioned amount, another Rs. 16 Crore has been sanctioned as the work is not possible on a full scale.

Municipality Member Mohandas Shenoy said the MLA was busy trying to sanction it.
