Udupi: An elderly patient was taken for treatment in an ambulance when an ambulance, lorry and tipper met with a series of accidents on National Highway 66 at Beejadi Pooja Marble U-turn near Koteshwara here on Wednesday February 15.
An elderly patient was being taken to a private hospital in Koteshwara for treatment. When the ambulance driver was crossing the highway from the service road the lorry coming from Kundapur end to Udupi collided with the back of the ambulance.
Siddaiah Hegde (87), a resident of Vakwadi and his family members Uday Hegde (49) and Susheela Shetty (65), who were on their way for treatment in an ambulance, sustained serious injuries and were admitted to a private hospital in Koteshwara.
Fortunately, ambulance driver Ayub Koteshwara escaped unhurt.
Kundapur Traffic Police visited the spot and examined the accident site and took action.
