Vijayapura: A farmer in Vijayapura District, who was on the verge of harvesting, suffered financial losses after he sprayed the wrong medicine to control the disease.
In a shocking incident, he died by suicide in the District. The farmer has been identified as Manohar Ayatawada (55), a resident of Babanagar in Tikota Taluk of the District. He had sprayed medicines to control the disease of the grape crop that had come for harvesting in his garden. But by the time he realised that it was the wrong medicine that they had sprayed, the whole grapes had dried up.
Manohar, a farmer who was hoping for an economic upliftment, was worried about the sudden economic crisis.
According to family sources, Manohar had borrowed Rs. 5 Lakh money and it spent for the protection of the grape crop.
However, Manohar, who was mentally depressed due to the crop failure, died by suicide by consuming pesticide and a case has been registered under Tikota Police Station limits.
